Maundy Thursday begins with a community potluck dinner at 5pm and a Foot Washing service at 6pm.
Maundy Thursday remembers Jesus’ last meal with his disciples. On this day we celebrate the Eucharist together and also remember Christ washing his disciples’ feet and giving them his great final commandment: “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35). ‘Maundy’ comes from the Latin mandatum, meaning commandment.
