At Church of the Advent, we hold that the arts are not mere ornamentation but a vital medium through which God communicates with the world. We believe that there are dimensions of divine truth that can be spoken only through artistic expression. For this reason, we seek to cultivate creativity in all its forms, recognizing imagination as essential to the life of faith and to the ongoing task of discerning what it means to follow Christ in our time.
The arts invite us to perceive truth more deeply, to give voice to gratitude, to lament loss, to nurture hope, and to participate in God’s creative work of healing and transformation.
We are committed to celebrating the arts in worship, in service, and in daily life—creating spaces where beauty, invention, and expression are welcomed; supporting artists and creative practices; and engaging the arts to nourish the collective imagination of our neighborhood, our city, and our world.
Advent Workshop serves as the umbrella for all of Church of the Advent’s arts and media initiatives. Through the Workshop, we are developing a library of resources designed to nurture imagination and foster learning around issues of faith, theology, Bible, ecology, and more. To order zines, click the link below and note the zines and quantity you’d like to order in the memo line. For orders of 20+ per title, contact Jacob.
We are committed to making these resources available to everyone regardless of what they can pay. However, donations of any size help us to keep producing physical media and invest in new projects. We generally suggest a $3-5 donation for each zine, and a flat rate of $5 for shipping.
